Andrew L. Asher

Andrew has developed a reputation as a determined and successful business litigator through years of representing clients in complex matters involving unconventional parties, venues and circumstances.

Prior to founding Asher Law Associates, Andrew started his legal career as General Counsel to BGR Government Affairs in Washington, D.C.  Established as Barbour Griffith and Rogers in 1991 by former Mississippi Governor, Haley Barbour and his partners Ed Rogers and Lanny Griffith, BGR is one of the City’s most prestigious public policy firms.  He continues to work with BGR today as Of Counsel to the firm.  Andrew also served as a Legislative Assistant to current Florida Supreme Court Justice, Charles T. Canady, during his tenure as a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives; as well as a staff member to former U.S. Senator Connie Mack, III.

During his career, Andrew has represented clients before state and federal courts in New York seeking to have preferred shares redeemed in a business venture that was resolved after substantial litigation for a publicly disclosed amount between $25 million and $34 million.  In 2006, along with counsel in New York, the District of Columbia, Canada and the United Kingdom, Andrew represented the president of a multinational company in a landmark extradition case that was successfully resolved after six years of litigation and negotiation.  Andrew recently successfully defended, as co-counsel with Ed MacMahon, a Belize-based financial institution in a complex civil matter involving multiple layers of indemnification and transactional claims before the federal district court in Florida’s Southern District.  Finally, Andrew is also noted for his record of representing and defending candidates and political committees before the Federal Election Commission.

A native Floridian, Andrew lives with his wife and their two children in Winter Park.
